It is true that the Blood of Jesus Christ washes away our sins and grants us forgiveness.
However, we are not only sinners, but we are also spiritually dead.
When Adam disobeyed God’s commandment in the Garden of Eden, he sinned, and he died spiritually. He lost the eternal life found only inside the garden and found death and all of its suffering outside.
He needed forgiveness for his sin, which was provided via the shed blood of animals in sacrifice to Jehovah God. Jesus became the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the whole world for those who believe in Him as the only way to eternal life.
Adam also needed his eternal life restored unto him, which was provided for by the resurrection of Christ from the grave, after He descended first into Hell to take the keys of eternal death away from Satan.
- Sin is the symptom of our main problem: spiritual death.
- The Blood of Jesus takes care of the first problem: forgiveness of our sins.
- The Resurrection of Jesus takes care of our second problem: restoration of eternal life.
- His death gives us forgiveness of our sins.
- His Resurrection restores to us His Eternal Life.
I Peter 3:21 says this is why a spiritual baptism into the resurrection of Christ is what saves us.
In Luke 20:36 Jesus calls us Children of the Resurrection.
Paul says in I Corinthians 15:16-19 the Resurrection is the backbone of Christianity.
Colossians 3:3-4 says, “For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed , then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”
Eternal life is now in Christ.
It is not something that we receive when we get to heaven. Christ is eternal life and Christ lives in us as believers in His Resurrection!
