Christ made a Blood Covenant with you.
Hebrews 9:22 “Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
Blood is important in the Bible and life. Death would soon follow the draining of the 5 ½ quarts of blood circulating through the body.
- Relatives say, “Blood is thicker than water.”
- Gang members say, “Blood in and blood out.”
- We say about heartless crimes, “He killed her in cold blood!”
Blood is the Scarlet Thread which runs through scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
The Blood of Christ is the only blood that washes away the stains of sin from the human heart.
“And from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His Blood.” (Revelation 1:9)
Remember the old hymn that churches don’t like to sing anymore?
“What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
Blood has been used as a signature.
- As kids, we pricked our finger and exchanged blood with our best friend, promising to be “blood brothers.”
- American Indians and other cultures cut themselves and exchanged blood as a signature to an agreement. The agreement is broken with the penalty of death.
- The Hebrew word “berith” used for Jewish circumcision, means covenant.
God made a covenant with Adam which was sealed in blood.
“But like Adam, they transgressed the covenant; there they dealt faithlessly with me.” (Hosea 6:7)
God made a covenant with Abraham sealed in blood. (Genesis 15:18-21)
Paul says that believers are brought into fellowship with God by the Blood of Christ.
“But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:13)
Communion is the New Covenant.
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples at the Last Supper.
“And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20)
The ‘berith‘ or physical circumcism of the Old Testament becomes the circumcision of the heart in the New Testament.
Physical bloodshed was replaced by a spiritual remembrance of the Blood of Christ which was shed for all who will believe in Him as their Lamb of God.
“But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter.” (Romans 2:29)
- Our past sins are washed away by believing in the Blood of Jesus! (Psalm 103:12)
- Our present sins are washed away by believing in the Blood of Jesus by confessing those sins daily! (I John 1:7)
- The Blood of Jesus overcomes the demons that torment our lives! (Revelation 12:11)
- The Blood of Jesus enables us with warm affection to call the Father “Abba!”(Galatians 4:6)
Jesus has made a Blood Covenant with you. His Blood covers your sins, and it gives you authority over the devil!
Irene Park used to be a high witch seducing young girls and boys into occult activities. She says the only ones she could not reach were the ones whose parents protected their children by praying over them in the Name of Jesus, standing on the merits of Christ’s atoning Blood!
I pray that each of us can realize the power in the Blood Covenant with Jesus Christ. If a former witch knows the reason children are protected from the occult is through the Blood of Christ and the prayers of their parents, then you and I need to wake up and pray earnestly and daily for our children, covering them in the Blood of Jesus Christ. Nothing but the Blood of Christ can wash away sin. Nothing but the Blood of Jesus Christ can protect our children from the devil!
“Father, I come to you, asking that you cover my children and grandchildren with the Blood of Jesus Christ. Forgive their sins. Convict them of their need of you. Draw them with your love and mercy. Open their spiritual eyes to see the truth and light that is in Jesus Christ. Deliver them from temptation and the evil one. Break all demonic strongholds in their lives. Set them free to serve you in the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name, I release the covering of your Blood over them! Amen!
