Joel Rosenberg addresses this question on his blog. Joel is an Evangelical Christian, author and American communications strategist.
Hurricane Harvey, Irma, a major earthquake in Mexico, all causing unprecedented disasters and suffering to so many people.
- Russia massing troops for war games on borders of three NATO countries.
- The genocide in Syria.
- Terror attacks around the world.
- North Korea’s nuke threats to the United States.
- Tensions over the Temple Mount Jerusalem.
He along with several other writers are saying these major events are ways God is using to try to get our attention.
Joel quotes Haggai 2:6, 7, 21, 22.
“For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. I will shake all the nations….I am going to shake the heavens and the earth. I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations.”
Joel says this is a 2 Chronicles 7:14 moment for everyone.
“This is a 2 Chronicles 7:14 moment, for the Church, for America, for Israel, for everyone.”
“If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Evangelist James Robison also says in his article for The Christian Post that God is speaking through these natural disasters and is calling Christians to pray.
“But as bad as the natural disasters are, if North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has his way and launches a thermonuclear attack on America or its allies, “nothing these hurricanes have unleashed on us will compare with the devastation and the horror of what happens,” Robison said.
If that occurs, “we will have to be one another’s neighbor again in the midst of that crisis to try and climb out from under the ashes,” he said.
“I’m telling you that God wants to give us His wisdom, His guidance, His direction [regarding] how to deal with this enemy.”
Jesus is coming back for His church soon. It is time for those who believe in Him to separate themselves from all that displeases Him. It is time to go to our knees and pray for all the suffering and for those who are lost to find their way home to the safety of the arms of Christ. He is the only lasting hope in this troubled world!
Please take time to read what Joel Rosenberg and James Robison have to say, and allow their words to stir your hearts to pray and be a better believer in Him and His Kingdom.
