You may remember the news story about a 25-year-old young mother who hit a cement barrier by a bridge to prevent people from driving off into the Spanish Fork River.
Lynn Jennifer Groesbeck was driving home to Springville, Utah after visiting her parents in Salem. It was around 10:30 PM March 6, 2014, when it is suspected, she dozed off. (She was on Tramadol and maybe using Marijuana for chronic back pain)
Her car clipped the concrete barrier causing her car to careen up and over into the river below, landing upside down, partially in the water and partially on the far bank. The roof of her Dodge Caliber was crushed in upon Lynn who died in the accident. Her 18 month old baby girl, Lily, was strapped in a car seat in the middle of the back seat of the car, and hung there upside down for around 14 hours, with her head just inches from the cold rushing water below.
When Police arrive at the scene, they realize that there is a body in the car because they can see a hand sticking out of the driver’s window. They hurry their pace to get to the car in the icy waters to the rescue, when they all hear a female adult voice, “Help me, We’re in here!” One officer answered the voice saying, “We’re coming to help.” But when they got to the car, they saw that the woman was already dead and had been dead for many hours.
Then they spotted baby Lily hanging upside down in the car seat inches from the water with only her eye lids showing signs of life. They were able with superhuman strength to turn the car over onto its wheels even when it was 1/2 full of water. They cut the straps holding Lily and passed her from officer to officer to the paramedics on the bank who performed CPR and rushed her to the hospital. Lily survived and is being raised by Lynn’s family and shows no sign of ill effects from the accident.
After the rescue, the officers were standing around discussing what each one had seen, when one officer spoke up and asked:
When you guys were down there in the water, did you all hear a voice?”
Officer Harward answered, “Yeah, I heart it.”
Officer DeWitt said, “Me too.”
Officer Warner said, So did I.”
The Bible states that we have angels watching over us all the time, yet, as in this accident we see the mother killed and the child spared. We can’t understand why God spared one and took the other one. There is no human answer to this question. God did choose to send his angel to deliver baby Lily.
He wanted Lily alive so, He allowed mom’s cry for help to be heard by rescue officers 14 hours later!
What an awesome God we have and if you read the scriptures below, you will see that he not only used angels to save Lily, but he also used angels to escort Lynn into His Presence in Paradise!

Are you ready to meet your Maker if He calls you to stand before Him today?
