Stubbing your toes in the dark
We all have experienced the frustration of trying to find our way through a dark house and stubbing our toes along the way. We have done this not in a house that is unfamiliar to us, but in our own houses where we know the placement of every piece of furniture, even in the dark.
When we stub our toes, we usually let out a surprised cry of pain; a cry that is mixed with anger, directed at ourselves more than anything. We were sure that we had every piece of furniture placed and memorized! We are so surprised and befuddled that we could have forgotten; of course our toes hurt on top of the anger and embarrassment, reminding us exactly where we stubbed them.
We forget soon enough how much we depend upon the electricity that powers the light bulb that illuminates our pathway. The power going out, or the bulb burning out, jerks us up short. What we thought was memorized and familiar turf still turns out to be dangerous to our toes.
Christ is the source of all spiritual ‘Light’ and the ‘Words’ He speaks to us personally, into our spirits, are full of His Holy Spirit of ‘Life’ .
The power plant is generating and the substations are transmitting. There is no power outage, but there is an interruption of ‘spiritual light’ to the hearts of mankind. Christ is the Power Plant. His Word is the substation. The supernatural power of God is available around the world, ready to enlighten every soul of man; yet mankind is walking in spiritual darkness, stubbing their toes all along the way.
Drawn to the light
Have you ever stopped and thought about how your eyes seek out traces of light in a pitch dark room or building or even outside?
There is something innate within us that gravitates toward the light. We were never meant to live in total darkness. Darkness and solitary confinement are used as means of torture on prisoners of war and terrorists. Darkness deteriorates the mental, emotional and physical health of the prisoners and can lead to insanity.
What happens in the natural is always a type of what happens in the spiritual. Our spiritual beings cry out for ‘spiritual light’, just as our physical bodies cry out for ‘natural light’.
The plants in the garden, or sitting on the window sill, reach upward and outward toward the light beams of the Sun. The majority of the animal kingdom is active and alive with the light of day.
Humans create gods to reach up and outward towards when they do not have a relationship with the one true God, Jesus Christ.
What draws you out? What draws you up? What is your soul reaching for? What gods have you created to replace Christ in your life? Anything that replaces Christ as the center of your life is an idol, and idols have demons behind them. (I Corinthians 10:20)
Take time today to open your Bible and allow His Light, that is hidden in His Word, to open your eyes to the beauty of His Love and Mercy, allowing His Peace to flow through your soul, as you bathe in His Holy Spirit, that will surround your human spirit and quiet your troubled soul. His Words are Spirit and Life. (John 6:63)
You can’t be drawn to the Light if the Light is covered and laying on the shelf.

“Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God believe also in Me. In my father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1-3).
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
“In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

“Fear not, I am the first and the last; I am He that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive forevermore, amen; and I have the keys of hades and of death” (Rev. 1:17, 18).

“Surely I come quickly. Amen” (Rev. 22.20).
