Happy Thanksgiving to those near and far! This is a day of giving Thanks and the Bible speaks much about being thankful, even during hardship.
Our country gave ‘Thanks’ from the beginning with acknowledgement to God for providing our daily needs of shelter, protection, and food. It seems to be more about commerce today with Black Friday starting earlier and earlier. (sad)
Even though there are many negative things about our country and its state of affairs today, and many are struggling to make ends meet, things could always be worse.
There are those around the world and in our own cities that are without shelter and the basics of life. There are those who are fighting for their life in the hospitals. There are those who are unaware of what day it is in the nursing homes. There are those who are protecting our country overseas. There are those who are being persecuted for their belief in Christ. There are those who are being abused in their own homes. There are those who are all alone without family and friends today. Serious illness, natural disasters, accidents, fires, and death never take a holiday.
Don’t forget there are also 361,000 or so babies being born around the world today!
The Bible encourages us to be thankful in our hearts and allow words of thanksgiving and praise to bless God and others.
1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His loving-kindness is everlasting.
Psalm 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Enjoy your day with your family and friends, and if you are a lone today, remember Jesus said He will always be with you (Matthew 28:18-20, and Paul said He is not far from any one of us, if we ‘feel’ ‘seek’ after Him (Acts 17:27).
